Automated insulin delivery (AID) systems are often considered gold-standard care for children with type 1 diabetes. An essential component of some AID systems is a smartphone, which can host an algorithm that adjusts insulin delivery based on continuous glucose monitoring sensor glucose values (1). Smartphones can also be used to monitor glucose levels and provide quick and easy contact between children with type 1 diabetes and their parents or caregivers, who typically play a significant role in their health care.
