

Measles cases are rising globally following first a resurgence in 2019 and then historically low levels during the early years of the COVID-19 pandemic. As of June 2025, 88 853 measles cases have been reported to WHO, with the highest numbers from the Eastern Mediterranean region and African region. Cases have been reported from all WHO regions in 2025, including a resurgence in the region of the Americas.1 In 2024, the European region had its highest case count in 25 years, with 127 418 reported cases.
